Let’s start this year off right! This is our first blog post of the year, and it’s kind of fitting that it’s of an engagement proposal. This time of year, we have a lot of clients that are getting (or just recently may have gotten) engaged and are now beginning their journey of the wedding planning. A couple of weeks ago, Nate contacted me about a photo session. He and his girlfriend Beth were visiting Carmel and Nate thought ahead. He’s my kind of guy, planning a romantic way to propose! So of course, Gina and I being the ninja photographers that we are, got excited for the thrill of documenting such an awesome, life changing experience. (I love these sessions!). But to shoot at Point Lobos can be a little tricky if you’re trying to be discreet about it, maintain the element of surprise, and get awesome background. So I came up with a plan.

Gina is currently 9 months pregnant and about to have our third baby in the next week or so (woohoo!). So what do a husband and pregnant wife photography team do to take advantage of such an awesome baby bump experience? Yep, plan a casual and quick maternity session at…you guessed it, Point Lobos. 🙂 So I told Nate about three weeks ago an approximate location to drive down to, where he’ll see a dude in a black hat taking photos of his wife’s baby bump. Park, take a walk past us up to the left (sunset light and background in MY mind), and we’ll go from there. So he did. Of course, as they walked by, we said hi and commented on the gorgeous day that is was, and Beth congratulated Gina. As they passed us about 25 ft away, she tried taking a photo of the two of them by doing the ol’ hand held selfie. I, of course, offered to take their photo for them with their camera. After the photo, Nate walked over to me to get the camera and mentioned under his breath that he’s going to do it now.

No prob. I’m on it.

He walks back to her, and I walked back to continue snapping pictures of my wife. Watching out of the corner of my eye, I see Nate drop before the love of his life on bended knee. Are you kidding me? We couldn’t contain the chills and smiles all across our faces! How beautiful! Beth didn’t even realize I was taking photos of them because 1) the obvious focus on her man and 2) I alternated photos between her and Gina. 🙂

Annnnnnd….she said YES!
